question seven
question seven: looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full project?
RUNNING PROGRESS COMMENTARY OVER THE OTS
Our preliminary task benefited us as a group because it allowed to us realise and act upon the potential and common problems that occur when filming. Continuity errors like leaving the tripod in the shot from the previous shot affect the scene traumatically as it seen as an error which, can happen easily but it is very simple to pick up the tripod and move it for the next scene. As a result it can change a film making companies recognition from good to bad, as it is so simple to prevent. It also improved the groups abilities when using Final Cut Pro. As Final Cut Pro was the software we used to put the clips together, it enabled us to figure out how to use it efficiently and effectively. Learning how to put the clips together was vital for our Opening Title Sequence.
As you can see, I have placed our 'Bad Preliminary Task' to highlight the common issues that occur when filming. I have done this to highlight how problematic how leaving a tripod in the scene or not sticking to the same clothing as worn in the previous shot can be. It zooms in on the idea of you, as a film making company as not taking your job seriously as you have not paid close attention to what you have created when editing or filming it. Furthermore, the 180 Degree rule is essential to abide by as it portrays a relationship between a character and another character or object within a scene.
This schematic shows the axis between two characters and the 180° arc on which cameras may be positioned (green). When cutting from the green arc to the red arc, the characters switch places on the screen.
In addition, when aiming to be as professional as you can be, another vital method to abide by is the titles and what order they are in. There is a specific order to follow for companies when making a film or opening title sequence. Below I have placed the correct order of titles and a video clip to show you what they look like on screen.

A good example of the SAG, PGA and DGA opening credits is the 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' opening.
