Initial Planning Ideas
Initial Ideas
Our Initial idea was to have the killer place on a farm far away from society - this created an idea of someone who seems incomplete and cannot express himself properly following the conventions and standards set by many others within this industry. Following these conventions will allow the audience to firstly identity him much quicker while also making him appear more scary to the audience - allowing him to be the perfect serial killer. Our group soon realised that having the bulk of the scene filmed out on a farm would be to hard to film and not everyone would be able to contribute to the film and creating of the scenes in the OTS.
Other initial ideas we had for our OTS included ideas of including following the zombie horror genre, our group soon realised we didn't have the time-frame to create the level of detail we would of wanted in our OTS, on top of this we didn't have the necessary amount of people in order to make the OTS seem believable, our group also didn't have anyone with the expertise in make-up in order to make the 'zombies' appear real. After much thought our group decided it would not work and looked at other ideas.
Our last initial idea was following the sub-genre of ghosts in horror, it was soon apparent to our group this would be too hard to create a realistic OTS which needed to be at least 3-4 minutes long. Since it was all our first time using this software to edit the shots together we again decided against choosing this sub-genre of horror.

Main Idea In depth
Our main idea follow a killer who's identity remains a secret throughout the entire OTS. The OTS follows the killer as he prepares to kill his next victim, on top of this the OTS is meant to show the level of planning and care that our fictional character takes while.
Our original plan was for a linear OTS this means it would have followed a storyboard like sequence with no jumps back in time or flash back from characters. This would have made it easier for the audience to follow. We decided against this due to the timeframe we had and the length the OTS would have had to be in order to it to completely make scene and keep the audience interested. Our group opted for a non-linear due to the fact we could save time on created the OTS, while also being able to create an OTS thats serves its purpose.
