Lighting in terms of Mise-en-scene: Lighting is an important element of mise-en-scene as it can be used to help represent different groups to the audience. it can highlight a certain characters significance. It can also help set the mood of a particular location or situation within a scene. And finally, it can portray a contrast a difference between characters.
Low Key Lighting: The term "low key" is used in cinematography to refer to any scene with a predominance of shadowy areas. It tends to heighten the scene of alienation felt by the viewer which is why it is commonly used in horror films.
